Real change.
Measurableimpact.
Your role.
Whether you're a grant funder, a corporate partner, or someone who wants to give their time β this page is for you. Trash Gxng Academy exists because of people who believe in this work. Here's what we've done with that belief, and how you can be part of what comes next.
Grant Funders
The need is real.
Our response to it is too.
Why this work matters β and why now
In Lambeth and the surrounding South London boroughs, significant numbers of young people aged 16β25 are not in education, employment, or training (NEET). Many face compounding disadvantages: disrupted schooling, mental health challenges, SEND needs, social isolation, and a lack of trusted adult relationships.
These are the young people who fall through the cracks of mainstream support β disengaged from school, overlooked by traditional employment pathways, and without the soft skills or confidence to move forward. Proximity to opportunity matters enormously; for many, access to spaces like Tate Britain, Apple, or the Southbank Centre has never felt possible.
Trash Gxng Academy CIC exists to reach exactly these young people. Founded and rooted in Brixton, our programmes are relationship-centred, culturally relevant, and designed to produce real, measurable outcomes β not just participation numbers.
How we create change
Our theory of change
Reach
We engage young people who are NEET, care-experienced, SEND, or otherwise underserved by mainstream pathways
Engage
Creative, culturally relevant programming that meets young people where they are and makes participation feel possible
Develop
Structured learning builds confidence, creative skills, employability, and a qualified record of achievement
Progress
Young people move into employment, education, training, or ambassador roles β with ongoing support from the Trash Gxng community
Who we serve
Our beneficiaries β in detail
Young people from Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic backgrounds
Anti-racism and intersectionality are embedded throughout our curriculum. Our programmes are explicitly designed to address the structural barriers that disproportionately affect young people from racially marginalised backgrounds.
Economically disadvantaged young people
Based in London with the areas of highest deprivation (according to the IMD scale) β boroughs with significant economic inequality β our programmes reach young people for whom paid creative education or training would otherwise be impossible.
NEET young people
Young people aged 14β25 who are not in education, employment, or training β particularly those who have disengaged from mainstream provision and feel there is no pathway forward.
Young people with SEND
Our programmes are designed to be inclusive and adaptive. We actively welcome young people with special educational needs and disabilities, and shape provision around the individuals in the room.
Care-experienced young people
Young people navigating or emerging from care, who disproportionately face barriers to creative education and employment and are underrepresented in the industries that shape culture.
Young people who've lost confidence
Many of our participants tell us they joined because they'd been made to feel like they didn't belong β in education, in professional settings, in their own creative instincts. Rebuilding that belief is central to everything we do.

Companies who've already been in the room

Young people on our IYCP programme pitched their creative concepts and personal brands to Apple representatives as part of their final showcase.

We've taken cohorts of our young people to Depop HQ in London as part of the industry exposure element of the programme β giving young people direct access to one of the UK's most exciting creative platforms.

Young people have visited Rider Levett Bucknall's stunning Shard offices β many for the first time in a professional corporate environment. Proximity to opportunity changes what feels possible.
Here's to creating more spaces where underrepresented young people can see themselves in the industries they shape through their culture.
